Aerospace Propulsion Products B.V. (APP) is a leading Dutch company in the field of space propulsion ignition. Our igniters ensure a reliable start of European launchers as Ariane 5 and VEGA. Furthermore, APP applies gas generator technology to non-space applications, such as dust explosion suppression systems and cool gas generators. APP is a 100% subsidiary of Arianegroup.
APP seeks to continue its development as a specialised company for developing and producing highly reliable and cost efficient ignition systems to suit customer requirements. This includes powerful igniters for solid rocket motors as well as sophisticated ignition systems for liquid rocket engines and gas generators for a variety of applications like parachute deployment devices.
Technology/expertise for ENLIGHTEN project:
During the ENLIGHTEN project the overall knowledge of APP on, on the one hand, development and production of highly reliable ignition systems for space propulsion ignition and, on the other hand, on higher volume, lower cost industrial gas generator products will be brought into the project.
The major part of the departments of APP, being a small company of 40 employees, will be involved in the project with an emphasis on:
- Project Office, for managing the activities;
- Engineering, for the development and testing activities;
- Production&Facilities for testing and assembly of the Laser Ignition System where applicable
- Quality and Safety, for monitoring the quality and safety during all activities
Laser ignition is considered important as potential future/new generation ignition method for APP. ENLIGHTEN facilitates APP to provide its industrial know-how on ignition systems into the development and gain experience on laser ignition
